Healthy Alternative Home made Cat Treats

Here's a few healthy recipes for cat treats that are void of chemicals if you use the *proper ingredients. Many of the commerically sold pet products are absolutely unfit for consumption. They are ridden with chemicals and additives that cause illness and even death. Please enjoy these alternative recipes to feed to your furry friends.

*Proper ingredients means you arent using meat broths from a can because they contain both high levels of sodium and MSG.

Cheese Treats
You'll need:
¾ cup of flour
¾ cup of shredded cheddar cheese
5 tbsp of parmesan cheese
¼ cup of plain yogurt
¼ cup of cornmeal
Form this mixture into balls and bake the ingredients at 350 degrees for a healthy cat treat that your pet will love you for making them.

Chicken Treats
If your cat prefers the taste of chicken, you can use:
1½ cups of cooked chicken
½ cup of chicken broth from cooked chicken
1 cup of wholewheat flour
 cup of corneal
1 tbsp of margarine
Combine the chicken and margarine together, then add the flour and cornmeal. Roll into balls and then cut into small chunks. Bake this at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes for a tastey kitty treat.

Liver Treats
You can also make a healthy liver treat for your cat. You’ll need:
½ cup of chicken livers (fully cooked)
¼ cup of water
1¼ cups of wholewheat flour
¼ cup of mashed (cooked) carrots
1 tbsp of margarine
Combine the flour and margarine in a bowl, blend the livers and water, then add to the mixture. Roll into balls and cut into small pieces. Bake this cat treat at 325 degrees for about 12 minutes.

Tuna Tidbits
6  ounce can of tuna
¼ cup water drained from tuna
3 tbsp cooked egg white, chopped
¼ cup cornmeal
½ cup whole wheat flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine tuna, egg white and water. Add cornmeal and flour and blend to form a dough. Knead into a ball and roll to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into one-inch sized pieces. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes. Makes 12 cookies.

Catnip Crackers
Cats will go crazy for these catnip crackers, so save them for rainy days and special occasions.
¾ cup flour
½ cup whole wheat flour
2 tbsp dried catnip (available at pet shops and in pet aisle at most supermarkets)
½ cup yogurt
1 egg
1 tbsp honey
3 tbsp vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 350°F. In a medium bowl, mix flours and catnip together. Stir in yogurt, egg, honey, and vegetable oil. Press out dough on a floured surface and cut into tiny treats using a cookie cutter or pizza wheel. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator for a week or in the freezer for up to three months.

Stop giving your dogs junk from China that is killing them!! Here is a Pumpkin Recipe that is healthy :) Cleo’s Pumpkin Dog Biscuits

♥ DOG TREATS ♥

Ingredients:
2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons dry milk
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 1/2 cups brown rice flour *
1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

In large bowl, whisk together eggs and pumpkin to smooth. Stir in dry milk, sea salt, and dried parsley (if using, optional). Add brown rice flour gradually, combining with spatula or hands to form a stiff, dry dough. Turn out onto lightly floured surface (can use the brown rice flour) and if dough is still rough, briefly knead and press to combine.

Roll dough between 1/4 – 1/2″ – depending on your dog’s chew preferences, – and use biscuit or other shape cutter to punch shapes, gathering and re-rolling scraps as you go. Place shapes on cookie sheet, no greasing or paper necessary. If desired, press fork pattern on biscuits before baking, a quick up-and-down movement with fork, lightly pressing down halfway through dough. Bake 20 minutes. Remove from oven and carefully turn biscuits over, then bake additional 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely on rack before feeding to dog.

* Brown rice flour gives the biscuits crunch and promotes better dog digestion. Many dogs have touchy stomachs or allergies, and do not, like many people I know, tolerate wheat.

Makes up to 75 small (1″) biscuits or 50 medium biscuits.
